Monthly medication should be fairly straightforward task. Repeat prescriptions are ordered with the surgery, collected by the pharmacy and then dispensed and delivered. Simple, right?
Well, not really... this process has many inherent weaknesses and the slightest glitch can lead to ERRORS and DELAYS.
- A pharmacy dispenses in accordance with the prescription, it assumes that the prescription is accurate. Reality is that there can be errors on the prescription such as omitted items, missed items, wrong items etc.
- Such errors are left for care home staff to identify when the delivery arrives and by then it is too late. At best it creates extra workload and at worse could result in the resident getting the wrong medication or going without.
- We realise this and we have developed systems that account for all manner of scenarios which ensure medication is delivered accurately and on time.
- Our IT system has been specifically developed to reduce potential errors. Our pharmacy trained staff will visit the Care Home when monthly medication needs to be ordered. We aim to follow the procedure for monthly ordering from the beginning to final delivery of medication. To top up the service we will be providing a pharmacist designated to cover your Care Home, he/she will help train and advise care home staff appropriately.
Please Note : Pharmacist cover and pharmacy staff cover is absolutely free as this comes with our Pharmacy Care Home Service.
There is nothing more frustrating than finding out that medication you have ordered is missing when you receive the monthly supply. That's why using our IT system through your computer you can at any time track the dispensing process, print MAR sheets for your registered patients. You can also communicate with the pharmacist and have access to a huge database. Our MAR sheets have actual photographs of the residents printed on them along with their standard details, also each medication on the MAR sheet is accompanied by a photograph of the actual medicine.
